There are a ton of fantastic options in downtown Manhattan ranging from romantic upscale restaurants to the ultimate date night movie theater. We have selected a few of our favorite destinations.

Ipic Movie Theater – $32-$64 – 11 Fulton Street, FiDi
For the ultimate movie date night head to Ipic and relax on their leather chairs with a glass of wine or a cocktail while snacking on gourmet dishes or sweets served at your seat. Book well in advance on holidays or for opening nights.
Barbalu – $35 – $60 – 225 Front Street, FiDi
Barbalu is the marriage of husband and wife team Stefano Barbagallo and Adriana Luque. Their authentic Italian restaurant by the South Street Seaport is a quaint spot perfect for a tasty romantic date. This little gem was rebuilt after Barbarini closed following superstorm Sandy. Thankfully, all the charm was preserved. Make sure to order their delicious home made fettucini with Beef Ragu or their Spaghetti allo Scoglio and to finish with the tiramisu.
Amelie Wine Bar – $50 – $90 – 22 West 8th Street, West Village
Considered one of the best wine bars in the world, Amelie Wine Bar is located in the West Village, 15 minutes away from the FiDi. The ambiance is cozy and lively at the same time. This is a great late night spot for a special date or wine tasting with or without dinner. For brunch goers, this wine bar additionally serves as a cute brunch date.
Augustine – $100 – $250 – 5 Beekman Street, FiDi
An elegant and classically designed restaurant started by Keith McNally, Augustine is a French Brasserie located in the Beekman Hotel that serves fantastic food for all times of the day as well as a large assortment of creative cocktails. The ambiance is buzzy and fun. A new favorite for New Yorkers, conveniently located in the FiDi. Take advantage of the proximity and try to sit at the bar.
One if by Land, Two if by Sea – $250 – $500, Greenwich Village
Voted the 5th most romantic restaurant in the world by Architectural Digest, One if by Land, Two if by Sea is the go to place to celebrate a special occasion. The food is fantastic and the ambiance is one of a kind.
Amada – $40 – $120 – 250 Vesey Street, Battery Park
Chef Jose Garces, an appraised chef from Philadelphia, opened a branch of his very popular Andalusian tapas bar in Battery Park City. The atmosphere is lively and contemporary and the separate menus for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour gives us an excuse to return frequently! The tapas are delicious, the half pig and wagyu beef are favorites for the common regulars. Regardless, you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose.
Blacktail – $70 – $145 – 22 Battery Place, Battery Park
Blacktail is located on Pier A in Battery Park. The ambitious goal of Blacktail was to create the best cocktail bar in the world and it shows. Besides the first class cocktails you can also enjoy a nice steak if you’re looking for more than just drinks.
Chinese Tuxedo $50 – $120 – 5 Doyers Street, Chinatown
Once home to an opera house, 5 Doyers Street in Chinatown is now home to Chinese Tuxedo a contemporary Chinese restaurant with beautiful décor and delicious food. If you love authentic Chinese food and are looking for a romantic dinner date, look no further.
Fowler & Wells – $150 – $250, FiDi
Located in the Beekman Hotel (next door to the lively Augustine), Fowler & Wells is the quieter, more cozy and upscale alternative. Fowler & Wells boasts a quintessential New York City ambiance and makes for a great breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night drinks and dessert date.
The Rink at Brookfield Place (Ice Skating) – $30, Battery Park
Ice skating right off the Hudson River at Brookfield Place makes for a very romantic date. On a sunny day, after a short walk to battery park, go and try the best-located ice rink in the city, a few steps away from the Battery Park marina.
